On Saturday 10 June 2023, Ambassador David Král together with ambassadors and diplomats from most EU countries resident in Tallinn, USA, UK, Norway and Canada, as well as European Commission Representation, joined the Baltic Pride March, organized in the framework of the Baltic Pride 2023 hosted by Tallinn.
The diplomats marched under the slogan „Diplomats for Equality“ to reiterate their support for the recognition of human rights of the LGBTQI community. They were joined by some of the official representatives of the Estonian political life, for example the President of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna or Chairman of the National Defence Committee in the Riigikogu Kalev Stoicescu.
The march passed through the streets of the Tallinn Old Town and finished at the Rävala puiestee park with a picnic and a concert. The atmosphere was very joyful and relaxed. The Pride March was a symbolical culmination of the Pride Week, in whose framework a variety of activities, cultural events, workshops and conferences were held throughout Tallinn. The Finnish Embassy in Tallinn organized a closing reception for the Baltic Pride 2023 organizers and activists, in which the diplomatic corps including Ambassador Král also took part.
Also in support of the Baltic Pride 2023, the Czech Embassy in Tallinn hoisted a rainbow flag for the entire duration of the Pride Week.
The Baltic Pride is a rotating event, which came to Tallinn again for the first time since 2017 and it was the first event of the kind organised after the Covid-19 pandemic, originally scheduled for 2020. Next year it will be held in Riga, Latvia.
