On Tuesday, June 11, we opened in the Kohtla-Järve cultural center the exhibition "North Pole Expedition", dedicated to the greatest Arctic explorer from the Czech lands – Julius Payer.
The exhibition, which consists of copies of Julius Payer's illustrations and paintings, is on display in Estonia for the third time. If previously the audience of Tallinn and Tartu could admire the works, this time the people of Ida-Virumaa will have this opportunity. At the opening of the exhibition, the welcoming speeches were made by Evelyn Danilov, Deputy Mayor of Kohtla-Järve, and Petr Preclík, Deputy Head of Mission of the Czech Embassy. The guests were welcomed by the cultural center by piano players who enriched the visual language of the exhibition with beautiful melodies.
We are extremely happy that the curator of the exhibition, Czech diplomat and former Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Denmark, Zdeněk Lyčka, also participated in the opening for the third time. He gave a lecture to the guests, where he spoke in great detail about Payer's expedition to the North Pole, as well as about Payer’s life in general.
The opening of the exhibition was followed by a discussion accompanied by Czech wines, during which we also took part in a tour of the Kohtla-Järve cultural center.
The exhibition will remain open in the Kohtla-Järve cultural center until mid-July.
