Lecture of the Ambassador David Král at Viljandi gümnaasium

On the anniversary of conclusing the Treaty of Tartu, which was signed on 2 February 1920, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised a Diplomacy Week, which ran from 29 January to 2 February. As part of this event, several ambassadors went to schools in different regions.

On January 31, Czech Ambassador David Král visited Viljandi gümnaasium, which cooperates with the Czech Gymnasium in Moravské Budějovice. He prepared a lecture for the students, which gave them an insight into the work of diplomats abroad.

Ambassador Král presented practical examples of what his job usually consisted of. He used photographs to talk about meetings with the highest state representatives, contacts with the highest constitutional officials of the host country or organising contacts at high and working level between Czech and Estonian politicians and officials.

He also mentioned important parts of the diplomatic work such as helping our citizens living in Estonia as well as promoting Czech culture, art, language, brands and products and our cooperating in multilateral forums such as the UN, EU, NATO and many others. He created a colorful picture of diplomatic work that is often wrapped in secrecy for the public.

The Ambassador later gave an interview to the Student Radio after the lecture. So students who could not attend the lecture personally could listen to his thoughts.
