In his opening speech, Ambassador David Král emphasized the need to remember that until recently women´s careers in science were extremely rare, and even the education and ability to take up any qualified job for ladies and girls were far from granted. To illustrate this, he gave examples from the history of the Czech school system and how difficult it was for girls to acquire an education.

The exhibition is making every effort to introduce, especially to the younger generation, several significant Czech female scientists, their achievements and the pioneer steps they took. It is undoubtedly a unique and eye-catching material, the creators of which have used an artistic approach rather than a realistic one: the portraits of all the scientists are depicted as caricatures and thus they do not try to be exact copies of the originals. Rather, the aim of the exhibition is to enable an attentive visitor to find the perfect match – the female scientist and her contribution to science.

We invite all science enthusiasts to definitely visit the AHHAA Science Centre this year, as the exhibition of the  Czech female scientists will remain open for free in the AHHAA lobby until July 1st, 2024. From September, however, you can get to know Czech male scientists and their achievements at the same venue.
