On the 23rd September 2018, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Estonia participated in the traditional Language Café as a part of a celebration of the European Day of Languages. It is organised every year by the Representation of the European Commission in Tallinn in cooperation with embassies and cultural institutions in Estonia. This time, the event has been moved to the Eastern Estonian city Narva to support it by showing its importance. The celebration took place within the Narva Station Festival, a colourful multi-day cultural event.
At Language Café 2018, 17 languages were presented, including the Czech language. The representatives of the Embassy spent three full hours of Czech language teaching, which were divided into mini-lessons, each for 15 minutes. Every participant, after attending at least three mini-lessons of different languages, had the opportunity to join the draw at the end and win a voucher to a local bookstore.
The Czech table was visited by students and people interested in Czech language and culture, who could learn not only grammatical tricks of our mother tongue, but also useful and practical Czech phrases. In addition to language training, brochures on the possibilities of studying in the Czech Republic and brochures promoting popular places in our country were available.
We are looking forward to see you next year!
