Opening of the exhibition „Prague Through the Lens of the Secret Police" in Narva

The exhibition "Prague Through the Lens of the Secret Police" prepared by the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes in cooperation with the Security Services Archive was opened on 12 March 2015 in a tower of Hermann Fortress in Narva, Estonia.

The exhibition capturing Prague through viewfinder of the State Security has been launched by the ambassador Richard Kadlčák. The following speech was given by the mayor of Narva Eduard East. The exhibition which arrived to Narva from Vilnius, Lithuania, presents the results and methods of secret surveillance and photos of „suspects“ with totalitarian Prague on the background. The images depict among other things few later well-known personalities, mostly the signatories of Charter 77. Panels with photographs are complemented also by authentic descriptions of the subjects under surveillance. 

The exhibition received abundant attention during the opening. After Narva, the exhibition will be shown in Tartu KGB Cells Museum and in autumn 2015 it is possible to see it in the Museum of Occupations in Tallinn.
