Meeting with Students and Movie "The Hop-Pickers"

On 17 May 2018, Czech Embassy in Tallinn held an informal meeting for Czech and Slovak students, who had a chance to meet the ambassador to Estonia, H. E. Gabriela Tomankova and other employees of the embassy.

Around 12 students attended the meeting and couple of students even came all the way from Tartu. During one-hour discussion, students had an opportunity to find out what does a diplomatic mission involves, how does the embassy works, what are its main tasks and duties, as well as reported on and much the character of an embassy differs according to territory it operates in. Other employees of the embassy also talked about consular services and about its wide spectrum of areas that it covers. Students were also informed about services to Czech citizens, which are provided by the embassy. The employees also informed the students about the area of public diplomacy, as well as informed on cultural activities organized by the embassy. At the end, a current intern at the embassy talked about her impressions and experience from her current study internship.  After the discussion, students had a chance to ask various questions.

After a short break with small refreshments, the evening continued with another event, which was the screening of Czech musical “The Hop-Pickers” from 1964, directed by Ladislav Rychman. Very old, yet a Czech cinematographic piece of art is full of memorable hits. Great acting, singing and dancing performances brought a smile on the face of the audience.
