Czech Movie "The Noonday Witch" at Kino Artis

On the 4th and 5th of April 2018, film days of the Visegrád countries, entitled “V4 Film Days” were held at Kino Artis in Tallinn. The film days were organized by the Hungarian Institute within the Hungarian presidency of the Visegrád Group.

During those two days, the audience in Kino Artis watched two Hungarian movies (Mom and Other Loonies in the Family; Aurora Borealis), Czech movie The Noonday Witch and Slovak movie Little Harbour. V4 Film Days were opened by the director of the Hungarian Institute Tamás Orosz, who introduced the Visegrád Group, emphasized the importance of the mutual cooperation of the V4 countries in the cultural field, as well as briefly introduced all of the movies. The common theme of the screened movies was stories of women/the fate of women. Czech embassy in Tallinn contributed to the film festival with the movie The Noonday Witch. The movie, made in 2016 was directed by Jiří Sádek. The motive comes from the eponymous ballad from the collection of ballads Kytice written by K. J. Erben, however the plot is shifted to the current world. Anna Geislerová stars as the mother, with Daniela Kolářová as paní Mrázová/The Noonday Witch.
