Ambassador David Král Took Part in the Diplomatic Tour to Lääne County and Muhu Island

On 30 September – 1 October 2021, Czech Ambassador to Estonia David Král participated in a diplomatic tour organized by the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the resident ambassadors accredited in Estonia to Lääne county and Muhu island.

On the first day of the tour, participants first visited Tuulingu Farmhouse at Matsalu National Park, where they had a possibility to enjoy birdwatching. After this, they visited Haapsalu, where they met with the Mayor Mr. Urmas Sukles who hosted lunch for them at Villa Friedheim. In the afternoon, ambassadors paid visit to Haapsalu Castle, former seat of the bishopric, Haapsalu lace centre and Haapsalu neurological rehabilitation centre, exposing modern facilities to treat patients e.g. who suffer from mobility disruptions after stroke. In the evening, the State Protocol of the MFA hosted a dinner for diplomats and guests from the visited Estonian institutions in Kuursaal.

On the second day of the tour, diplomats firstly visited a 800-years old Ridala church near Haapsalu, after which they took a ferry to Muhu Island, where they had a lunch with the Mayor of Muhu municipality, Mr. Raido Liitmäe. After the lunch they could admire local points of interests, such as local bakery and brewery in Liiva, Koguva village with its local museum and Muhu wood and meat factories. The day concluded at the majestic Pädaste manor, where ambassadors met its owners, Mr. Imre Sooäär and Mr. Martin Brauer, as well as H. E. Eva-Maria Liimets, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. Part of the evening programme was also a performance of the local folk ensemble, which introduced to the diplomats local folk songs from Muhu and traditional costumes.
