More than 60 companies from across NATO entered the competition, with ten advancing to the final round. The jury ultimately selected the concept presented by Czech company LPP Holding as the winning solution.

LPP Holding presented autonomously controlled unmanned platforms capable of operating over extended ranges in GPS-denied environments and under conditions of intensive electronic warfare. “The objective of our concept is to create a combination of effects that persistently degrades the adversary’s ability to conduct offensive air operations against Allied countries,” says Martina Tauberová of LPP Holding.

The concept draws on practical experience from the battlefield in Ukraine, where Ukrainian soldiers and civilians are exposed to intensive attacks launched from Russian air bases. LPP therefore developed a solution to disable them, combining autonomy, resilience and the ability to operate without reliable GPS or continuous communication with an operator.

“For us, this victory is above all a confirmation that the Czech defence industry is capable not only of developing technologically advanced systems, but also of addressing concrete NATO operational requirements. LPP translates lessons learned from the real battlefield directly into the development of new capabilities,” says Martina Tauberová, who leads government and strategic relations at LPP Holding.

The outcome of the NATO Innovation Challenge also highlights the growing importance of unmanned and autonomous systems in modern warfare. NATO emphasized that the selection of the winning solutions was based not merely on technological novelty, but primarily on their ability to deliver the required operational effect under realistic conditions, as well as their resilience, scalability, affordability and potential for rapid fielding.
