Defence Industry, Cyber Security – Czech Business Delegation in Estonia

On 27–28 May 2026, a large business delegation joined President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel during his State visit to Estonia. Over the course of the two days, the delegation participated in an intensive program focused primarily on defence and cybersecurity.

On the first day in Tallinn, representatives of Czech companies visited Tehnopol – Estonia’s largest science, technology and business park supporting the development of startups, technology companies and innovative projects. Participants were introduced to the various programs and opportunities offered by Tehnopol, including activities connected to the NATO DIANA accelerator.

The visit continued with a business forum focused on the defence and cybersecurity sectors, attended by the Presidents of both countries. Among the Czech speakers was Milena Jabůrková, Vice President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, who emphasized the importance of trustworthy cooperation networks. Director of the Czech MoD’s Inter-Governmental Defence Cooperation Agency (AMOS) Aleš Vytečka stressed that European cooperation in defence is no longer merely an opportunity, but an undeniable necessity. Director of the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) Lukáš Kintr, subsequently introduced the Czech cybersecurity sector. The Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) also presented its activities during the forum, including the objectives of the Estonian Defence Forces through 2029. The Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association introduced its activities as well, and participants were invited to the Estonian Defence Week, which will take place in Tallinn from 21 to 25 September 2026.

In his speech, the President of Estonia highlighted that Czech products are well known in Estonia and that the Czech market is attractive for Estonian entrepreneurs. According to him, relations between the two countries hold significant potential for further development. President Petr Pavel stated that the Czech Republic can draw inspiration from Estonia in many areas, while also emphasizing the broad opportunities for cooperation across several sectors. In the presence of both presidents, a memorandum of cooperation was ceremonially signed between COLT CZ Group and Frankenburg Technologies. The partnership between the two companies aims to strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities and support for Ukraine.

The second day of the program took place in Tartu, where the business delegation split according to sectoral focus. The defence-oriented group visited the company Metec, which manufactures metal components primarily for the automotive and defence industries, and later participated in networking with Estonian defence companies. The cybersecurity-focused delegation visited the Delta Centre at the University of Tartu, where Cybernetica prepared an expert program. Ongoing projects involving both Czech and Estonian companies and institutions, such as CHESS, CCAT and SECURE-NET, were presented. The participation of Czechs working or studying in Estonia further highlighted the long-standing high-quality cooperation between the two countries. The program concluded with networking and discussions focused on identifying further opportunities for Czechia and Estonia to jointly contribute to strengthening European security.
