On 24 October 2024, a reception was held to celebrate the Czech National Day and to commemorate 25 years since joining NATO and 20 years since the Czechia's accession to the European Union.
The reception was held at the iconic Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach, Sydney and was attended by over 140 guests from the NSW Parliament, DFAT NSW, the NSW Consular Corps, human rights organisations, public and cultural life, business and the expatriate community in Sydney.
Speeches were made by Ms Zuzana Slováková, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Sydney, the Hon. Benjamin Cameron Franklin, MLC, President of the Legislative Council of NSW, and Mr Crispin Conroy, Director of the New South Wales State Office, DFAT. The speeches were followed by the opening of the exhibition "My Homeland through the Paths of Change - Stories of Home", mapping successful projects of rescue or revitalisation of Czech historical and natural monuments. The formal part of the evening was rounded off with a performance by children from the Czech and Slovak School in Sydney, accompanied by the folklore ensemble Kukabura.
The event was kindly supported by Offroad Trucks Australia and EBL Importers (importer of Czech beer, spirits and other products of Czech origin to Australia).
