On 20 August 2023 the Consul-General of the Czech Republic in Sydney Zuzana Slováková and the Consul-General of the Slovak Republic Martin Kabáč oficially opened an exhibition of Czech, Moravian and Slovakian folk clothing in the Domov Gallery in Melbourne.
The exhibition consists of a total of 21 traditional garments and other additional objects encapsulating rural life and will be accessible to the wider public on weekends up until 29 October 2023. The curator of the exhibition is ethnograph and folk clothing collector Ivana Jančář.
The pieces themselves are sourced from a multitude of private collections – including that of the exhibition’s curator as well as the collections of other families in Melbourne, who generously lent garments for the purposes of the exhibition.
