Minister of Defence Jana Černochová attended the presentation of the CV90 Mk IV for the Czech Army

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sweden had the honour to support Czech Minister of Defence Jana Černochová during her visit to Örnsköldsvik, where she, together with Swedish Minister of Defence Pål Jonson and Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, CEO of BAE Hägglunds, attended the official presentation of the first CV90 Mk IV Infantry Fighting Vehicle, which make part of Czechia’s historic order of 246 units

A total of 39 vehicles will be produced in Sweden, with the first few units designated for testing. Another 207 vehicles will be assembled by the Czech state-owned company VOP CZ. The first armoured vehicles are scheduled to arrive in the Czech Republic in 2026, with main deliveries planned between 2027 and 2030.

The involvement of the Czech defence industry in this contract is one of the priorities of the Czech Ministry of Defence. The Swedish side has committed to ensuring the participation of Czech industry in the scope of at least 40 percent of the contract’s total value. More than 20 Czech companies will take part. The main subcontractors include the state-owned VOP CZ, Excalibur Army, VR Group, Ray Service, and Meopta. Representatives of these companies also attended the ceremony, where the manufacturer presented the first vehicle in Czech colours. Thanks to this project, Czech companies also gain the opportunity to participate in the production of vehicles for other customers.

The new vehicles will rearm the battalions of the 7th Mechanised Brigade. This is part of the commitments the Czech Republic has undertaken within NATO, stemming also from the Capability Targets 2025 adopted at this year’s Alliance summit.

This milestone opens a new chapter in Czech-Swedish defence cooperation, demonstrating the strength of our industrial partnership and our shared commitment to security.
