
Czech-Swedish Defence Industry Days

From September 9 to September 11, 2017 Prague and Moravian cities Staré Město, Uherský Brod a Velká Bíteš hosted the second round of Czech-Swedish Defence Industry Days. The Swedish delegation was led by Jan Salestrand, State Secretary to the Minister of Defence, who met for bilateral meetings with Daniel Koštoval, Deputy Minister for Armaments and Acquisition and Jakub Landovský, Deputy Minister for Defence Policy and Strategy.
Czech-Swedish Defence Industry Days represent one of the concrete examples of longstanding cooperation between the Czech Republic and Sweden in security and defence policy. The first round of Czech-Swedish Defence Industry Days with more than 10 participating Czech companies took part in Stockholm in October 2016. This year State Secretary Salestrand brought to Czechia large delegation from Ministry of Defence, Swedish Defence Material Administration, Swedish Defence Industry Assiciation along with representatives of more than 10 Swedish companies such as SAAB, BAE Systems Hägglunds, GKN Aerospace Sweden, CBJ Tech, MilDef AB, Recotech.
State Secretary Salestrand, Deputy Minister Landovský and Christer Sundin, Director of Procurement & Logistics division at Swedish Defence Material Administration presented opening remarks followed by case studies of Czech-Swedish cooperation in defence industry presented by SAAB, BAE Systems Hägglunds and Omnipol. The whole afternoon was dedicated to B2B meetings between Czech and Swedish companies. From the Czech side there were companies such as Ray Service, Retia Pardubice, Explosia, Meopta, Omnipol, Optokon, SVOS Přelouč, Glomex, Delinfo, Czechoslovak Group and Military Technical Instituteand and Defence Industry and Security Association.
The second day the Swedish delegation visited production plants of Ray Service in Staré Město na Moravě, Česká zbrojovka in Uherský Brod and První brněnské strojírny in Velká Bíteš.
Jiří Šitler, Ambassador of the Czech Repubic to Sweden and Brigadier general Libir Štefánik, Defence Attaché of the Czech Republic to Sweden also participated at the Czech-Swedish Defence Industry Days.
