On January 15, 2026, the Bulgarian-Czech Chamber of Commerce held its first annual general meeting. The members of the chamber assessed the first year of their active work and outlined the key priorities for the development of Czech-Bulgarian trade relations in 2026.
One of the most important events last year was the Bulgarian-Czech Chamber of Commerce's accession to the European Federation of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce, a European federation that unites bilateral chambers of commerce to support European economic cooperation and investment. Other significant events included the Chamber representatives' visit to the Czech Republic to organise the Bulgarian-Czech Business Forum, and Maxim Behar's meeting with Petr Pavel, the President of the Czech Republic.
Thanks to its comprehensive programme, which included meetings with leading government representatives, the organisation of business delegations and bilateral negotiations in both the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, the Chamber established itself as a recognised platform for dialogue between businesses and government institutions within just one year. By the end of 2025, the Camber had 52 members. This, together with the positive financial results, provides a solid foundation for the further expansion of its activities.
Regarding this, the Chamber's Chairman, Maxim Behar, stated, "To us, the Chamber of Commerce is not just a formal structure, but a functional business tool. Our goal is for companies to find partners, solutions and real support in both Bulgaria and the Czech Republic”.
A key aspect of the Chamber’s work is its collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sofia, which has supported its initiatives from the outset. In this context, Jan Jindřich, the Deputy Head of Mission and an honorary guest of the Chamber, attended the general meeting. In his speech, he praised the Chamber's dynamic development and its contribution to Czech companies: 'In a short period of time, the Bulgarian-Czech Chamber of Commerce has confirmed its importance for the development of business activities between our countries. The Embassy particularly appreciates the commitment with which the Chamber operates and will continue to support it in areas that contribute to strengthening mutual economic cooperation.”
Among the Bulgarian-Czech Chamber of Commerce's main priorities for this year are supporting investments, developing tourism, assisting companies in entering new markets, and deepening institutional dialogue between the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
