Opening of the Exhibition Affinity of Horizons at the Czech Centre in Sofia

On April 29, 2025, artists Iva Kolorenčová and Markéta Váradiová presented their joint installation entitled Affinity of Horizons at the Czech Centre in Sofia. Exhibition of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works draws inspiration from the landscape of the Central Bohemian Uplands, a region the artists have long been devoted to.
The opening was preceded by a workshop titled The Horizon of the Landscape, designed for both children and adults, offering participants the opportunity to create their own real and imaginary horizons using colored foils and scissors.
The installation reflects the contrasting character of a landscape shaped by dramatic volcanic activity, which nevertheless remains calm and welcoming to the eye. Visitors can view images of the southern horizon made from metal mesh, which change color depending on the viewer’s movement, as well as glass objects representing the peaks of the highest hills, modeled according to topographic maps.
The installation is organized by the Czech Centre Sofia with the support of BTL and AŽD PRAHA and will remain open to the public at the Czech Centre in Sofia until June 20, 2025.
