Minister of Defense Lubomír Metnar visited North Macedonia

On 11-12 May 2021, the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Metnar, visited the Republic of North Macedonia. On the Macedonian side, he met with the President, the President of Parliament, as well as with the Minister of Defense and the Minister of the Interior. During the visit, he also signed a memorandum of cooperation on the modernization of helicopters by the Czech semi-state company LOM Prague.
 

At a press conference, Minister Metnar summarized his journey as follows: “North Macedonia is a very important partner for the Czech Republic. Last year, the process of its accession to NATO was successfully completed, and we also support the country's accession to the European Union. ”

One of the main points of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation on the modernization of 4 helicopters owned by the Macedonian Ministry of Defense and Interior. The memorandum was signed by all three ministers from the relevant ministries, i.e. Minister Metnar and from the Macedonian side by Minister of Defense Shekerinska, Minister of the Interior Spasovski. The Minister also met with President Stevo Pendarovsky, Speaker of Parliament Talat Xhaferi and Chairman of the Security Committee Mile Talevsky.
