Czech Embassy Highlights – Q2 2026

During the second quarter of 2026, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Skopje continued to actively promote cultural exchange, educational cooperation, tourism, solidarity, and public diplomacy through a broad range of events and initiatives.

In April, the Embassy supported an exhibition by the Czech artist Petra Jovanovska, officially opened at the historic Suli An in Skopje. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission, who emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation and artistic exchange between the Czech Republic and North Macedonia.

Later that month, the Embassy participated in the Skopje Book Fair, where renowned Czech author Jiří Hájíček met with readers and literature enthusiasts. In the presence of Ambassador Jaroslav Ludva, the discussion focused on the author’s novels, creative inspiration, and contemporary Czech literature, attracting considerable interest from the audience.

In May, the Embassy, in cooperation with CzechTourism and Skopje International Airport, organized a seminar promoting tourism opportunities in the Czech Republic. Held in Skopje and attended by representatives of 22 Macedonian travel agencies, the event featured presentations on the Czech destinations and tourism products, encouraging stronger tourism and business links between the two countries.

As part of the Europe Day Month 2026 celebrations, Ambassador Ludva participated in the programme “Enjoy Europe with a Book” in the Europe House Tetovo and donated books from the Embassy’s collection to the Tetovo Library, supporting reading, education, and intercultural dialogue.

The Embassy also joined the international observance of Vyshyvanka Day, expressing solidarity with Ukraine and its people while highlighting the importance of unity, resilience, and support for democratic values.

As part of promoting the tourism and cultural heritage of North Macedonia, Czech journalist Jakub Jukl described Ohrid as a “pearl among cities” in Komora Plus, highlighting its rich history, spiritual tradition, and natural beauty.
