In the first quarter of 2026, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Skopje carried out a wide range of activities highlighting strong bilateral ties and solidarity with North Macedonia. Ambassador Jaroslav Ludva met with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs, Bekim Sali, during which strong Czech support for North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations was confirmed.
At the beginning of the year, Ambassador Ludva participated in commemorations honoring Czech citizen Robert Gajdík, who died during the Second World War.
Support for young talent was marked by an award presented to an artist from the Small Montmartre of Bitola for participation in the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. Educational exchange continued through the activities of Czech student debaters in Skopje.
Cooperation in healthcare and crisis response remained strong. A Czech medical team visited North Macedonia to provide expertise in burn treatment, and a fire truck was donated to Kočani, reaffirming continued support following last year’s tragedy.
The Embassy also facilitated discussions on civil protection, environmental issues, trade support, culture and future cooperation, including meetings held by Ambassador Ludva with Minister of Environment Muamet Hoxha and Mayor of Skopje Orce Gjorgjievski.
In addition, the Czech Embassy joined international partners in providing humanitarian support to Ukraine, symbolizing solidarity and the practical impact of diplomacy.
