Significant Czech Participation at IFF “Holy Virgin Mary Omophorion”

During the second edition of the International Film Festival “Holy Virgin Mary Omophorion” (Skopje, 15-19.10.2017), focused on spreading the spiritual and humanistic values, the Czech cinematography was again significantly represented. The Macedonian audience had a chance to watch four high quality Czech films and meet with two Czech authors.
 

A part of the official opening on 14.10.2017 of the IFF “Holy Virgin Mary Omophorion”, which was attended by about 250 guests, at the new building of the National Theater in Skopje, was the screening of the exceptionally impressive Czech coproduction film Nicky’s Family and the presentation of the exhibition of 33 photographs, in which Josef Brož tried to capture the atmosphere of the Macedonian Orthodox churches and monasteries.

 

On 16.10 at the Skopje Cinematheque was the screening of the short children’s film Message in a Bottle, and the Czech participation at the IFF “Holy Virgin Mary Omophorion” culminated on 18.10 during the Czech spiritual film evening with the screening of the films “As If We Were to Die Today” and “Cyril and Methodius – Keep for Us O Lord the Legacy of Our Fathers and Mothers!” which was introduced by its authors Otakáro Maria Schmidt and Jana Kristina Studničková.

 

The directors O. M. Schmidt and J. K. Studničková also on 17.10 in Ohrid, organized a special seminar, whose part was the screening of the mentioned film, and which was attended with a great interest by the FIOFA students (the Macedonian counterpart of FAMU in a way).
