On the 16th September 2024 a group of Czech students who won the "Plant Medicine - Field of the Future" competition, visited Headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in Rome.
The competition is organized by the Czech Plant Medicine Society for secondary school students for the past 8 years (see Plant Medicine Competition). Winners of the competition were invited for a 3-day study trip together with their science teachers by CropLife Czech Republic, accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Italy HE Jan Kohout and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations Rome-Based agencies Mr. Roman Diatka.
Students had an opportunity to discuss with FAO experts on plant protection and plant health as well as with Czech nationals working in FAO and to explore the possibilities in which they can find employment after graduating from plant medicine. CropLife has long been dedicated to activities supporting children's interest in plant medicine; on the occasion of the International Year of Plant Health 2020 CropLife published Czech version of FAO /IPPC Activity book for children "Healthy Plants – Healthy Planet" (Zdraví rostlin - příručka pro děti).
