On June 20, 2017 Dr. Aftim Avdaj - the Director of the Health Care Center in Prizren – received a donation consisting of ophthalmology equipment from the project implementor - the Czech NGO People in Need Foundation. The most important and relevant part of the donation is a modern ophthalmic device - tonometer that allows specialized eye examinations to the common people and has so far been lacking in the hospital equipment. The Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý expressed his delight over the event and stressed the importance of the Czech development cooperation in Kosovo in the area of health care.
Director Avdaj expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Kosovo medical doctors and patients as well. He mentioned that the ophthalmic device will be used immediately in a wide range of specialized eye examinations.
Within the project “Integration of the Visually Impaired Individuals and Prevention of Visual Impairment in Kosovo 2015-2017”, financed by Czech Development Agency and Implemented by People in Need Foundation, three eye clinics in Prishtina, Peja and Prizren are benefiting from ophthalmological equipment and trainings in the field of ophthalmology aiming the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases among children and adults.
