Commemoration of the deceased Slovak soldiers

On January 19, 2015 the memorial ceremony was held in KFOR base in Pristina to pay tribute/to commemorate 42 Slovak soldiers who died nine years ago in a plane crash while returning from KFOR mission.
The aircraft An-24 with Slovak soldiers crashed on January 19, 2006 at the foot of Hungarian hill Borsó, near Hungarian-Slovak border, shortly before landing at Košice airport. Slovak soldiers were serving in KFOR within the Czech-Slovak battalion at the base Šajkovac.
Head of the Slovak Liaison Office, Mr. Henrik Markuš, commander of KFOR, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Ivo Šilhavý, and representatives of the Hungarian embassy laid wreaths to the memorial of Slovak soldiers. Memorial ceremony was also attended by representatives of a number of foreign contingents operating currently within the KFOR mission.
