
V. Tesar meets with Minister of Education, Youth and Sports on the edge of farewell to students

On August 4, 2017, the VTU, Phnom Penh, V. Tesar (VT) met in the presence of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia, Hang Chuon Narona with students leaving Cambodia to study in the Czech Republic.
A group of ten Cambodian students consisted of five selected government scholars and the same number of successful applicants within the Erasmus+ program. Receiving universities of government scholars are Charles University, the Czech University of Life Sciences and Mendel University in Brno. Erasmus+ students are headed for Masaryk University in Brno. The meeting was also attended by Cambodian alumni from the Czech universities, who could provide practical advice and advice to their fellow colleagues.
The meeting was held in the premises of the EU Delegation in Phnom Penh on the occasion of a meeting with all students departing to educational institutions in the EU MS.
In his speech Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia extended thanks of the government for the opportunity to send young Cambodians to study in advanced countries in the fields needed to develop the country's economy. He also noted with satisfaction that Erasmus+ enabled a total of 27 students and teachers from EU countries to travel to Cambodia to study and teach at local universities in the upcoming period. Currently16 Cambodian colleges and educational and scientific institutions profits from Erasmus+.
In the discussion with the Minister VT informed of the gradual increase in the number of government scholarships since 1996 up to 8 positions being offered for the academic year 2018/19. The Minister reiterated the gratitude of the Cambodian government for the opportunity to send 49 students so far through the government scholarships. He also knew that 22 Cambodians have been studying at Erasmus + universities in the Czech universities since 2012.
