Small local project called „ Scalling up WASH in four villages in Bos Sbow Commune“ was supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Phnom Penh and implemented in Oddar Meanchey province by NGO Cambodian Health and Human Rights Alliance (CHHRA).
Due to the project more than 160 households can drink water filtred through special Bio Sand Filters. The inhabitants of those four villages didn´t have any access to drinking water and very often suffered from various deseases. Now, the situation became much better. Not only in a rainy season, but even during a dry season when people are depended on water from a local pond, households can use Bio Sand Filters placed in their kitchen to clean water before it is used for cooking or drinking.
Very essential part of the project was to ensure access to sanitation facilities. In close cooperation with local people, CHHRA built 160 latrines and provide households with trainings focused on water, sanitation and hygiene.
The project was implemented within the framework of the Official Development Assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic with Cambodia.
