The Zemlinsky Quartet is composed of František Souček – 1st violin, Petr Střížek – 2nd violin, Petr Holman -viola and Vladimír Fortin - cello. During its studies at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts, in Prague, the ensemble was led by a number of members of renown Czech string quartets such as the Talich, Prague, Kocian and Pražák Quartets. The ensemble also took part in several master classes (ProQuartet, France, Sommerakademie Reichenau, Austria – 1st prize for the best interpretation of a work by L. Janáček). A recent tutor of the quartet is Josef Klusoň, the violist of the Pražák Quartet. During the years 2005-08, the quartet studied with Walter Levin, the first violinist of the LaSalle Quartet. Currently the group are the assistant quartet-in-residence of the Musikakademie in Basel, Switzerland.

The Zemlinsky Quartet performs regularly in the Czech Republic and abroad. The repertoire of the ensemble is remarkably broad, containing works by many leading Czech and foreign composers, including contemporary and classical compositions. The group performs regularly on Czech TV and it has also produced several recordings for Czech Radio. The individual members of the ensemble equally perform as soloists; they are the prize holders of several solo competitions (e.g. Concertino Praga; Spohr International Competition Weimar; and the Rotary Music Competition Nürnberg).
