Contemporary Czech design was presented at the Bombay Times Fashion Week. The fashion collections of two leading Czech designers Beata Rajská and Aranka Slavíková launched a three-day program on 13th March. Their shows were accompanied by an exhibition of Czech glass makers, designers and artists taking place at the venue of Bombay Times Fashion Week.
The garments for the show were made using crystal glass components. Not only fashion models, but also winners of beauty pageants in India, were dressed in gorgeous garments inspired mostly by Hollywood and world movie stars. Beata Rajská brought a collection "Woman Icon 2020" to India and the last garment of her show was presented by Adline Castelino, winner of the LIVA Miss Diva Universe. Aranka Slavíková's fashion show was created in cooperation with Preciosa, producer of crystal glass components, and her show was closed by Shivani Jadhav, Miss Femina Grand India.
The Czech Fashion Show was launched by a short video “Czechia has marvelous people” and a video dedicated to the beauties of the capital city of Prague. The conclusion of the Czech fashion show became an opportunity to thank all the guests. H. E. Milan Hovorka the Ambassador of the Czech Republic and Mrs. Rashmi Jolly, the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Mumbai, were invited to the catwalk by fashion designers.
Fashion designers together with Ambassador and Honorary Consul attended a press conference for the Bombay Times and other Indian media with the participation of beauty pageant winners Adline Castelino and Shivani Jadhav. The Ambassador also used the press conference to highlight that the garments were made with Preciosa crystal glass components and that the fashion week became occasion to present an exhibition of Czech glass makers.
The three-day program of Bombay Times Fashion Week became an excellent opportunity to present not only garments with crystal components from Preciosa, but also Czech crystal glass. Jiří Pačinek, a leading Czech glass artist, exhibited his original glassworks which aroused extraordinary enthusiasm of Indian visitors. Robert Halama, owner of Halama Original Czech Art Crystal, personally presented the large collection of art deco-inspired glass during the fashion week. Creator of the exclusive in-depth cut Bohemian crystal Ladislav Ševčík jr. explained to Indian visitors in detail the uniqueness of Ladislav Ševčík Bohemia Crystal glass exhibits. Apart of Preciosa another big Czech glass company at the exhibition was Moser. Visitors to the exhibition were literally carried away by large colorful vases made by Moser glassworks and designed by Jiří Šuhájek. Clartés Bohemia, represented by project director Milan Špiller, brought handmade vases, bowls and drink sets from the “Bobbles Collection” to India. The original Czech glass design was also presented at the exhibition by Jaroslav Svoboda, whose glassworks Jaroslav Svoboda AGS exhibited mainly colored decorative glass. The glass artist Bohumil Eliáš showcased his art sculptures from painted and glued glass plates and thus significantly expanded the variety of glass exhibits.
Czech participation in the Fashion Week was financially supported by the Czech and Moravian Glass Cluster, represented by the chairman Dalibor Šilhavý. The glass exhibition was also used as a venue for meetings of Czech companies with Indian business partners. In cooperation with the CzechTrade office in Mumbai and the Honorary Consulate, many useful business to business meetings were organized.
