During the event the Czech Minister of Environment Mrs. Anna Hubáčková had a bilateral meeting with the Indian Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Mr. Bhupender Yadav, who is also Minister of Labour and Employment. They discussed possible cooperation between our both countries in the field of protection of environment.

The event held at a crucial time as the Earth is in emergency mode, and urgent action is needed to address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. Co-hosted by Sweden and Kenya, Stockholm+50  took place under the theme “a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity.” The two-day meeting commemorated the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm  which marked a new era of global cooperation.

At the 1972 conference, 113 countries adopted the Stockholm Declaration and Action Plan for the Human Environment, placing environmental issues at the forefront of international concerns. The conference also led to the creation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and began an important dialogue between industrialized and developing countries on the links between the environment, economic growth and human well-being. Stockholm+50 marked a milestone in our collective journey toward a healthy planet. It offers the opportunity to reflect on, celebrate and build upon 50 years of environmental action. The meeting was organized around plenary segments, three leadership dialogues and side events that was focus on the importance of multilateralism in tackling the triple planetary crisis. It was also reinforce the outcomes of the fifth UN Environment Assembly, which took place earlier this year in Nairobi, Kenya.

Speaking at the Stockholm +50 conference, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said that India has been able to disengage the development process from environmental degradation. India is one of the few nations that have delivered on their climate action commitments and are increasing the use of renewable energy going forward, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said at the Stockholm +50 conference. Presenting India's "national statement" at the Stockholm +50 conference, Minister said India has seen large-scale inclusive economic development in the last decade by disengaging the development process from environmental degradation.

The conference was being organized to commemorate 50 years of the Stockholm Conference, the first United Nations conference on the environment.
