
Czechia inaugurates honorary consulate in Bhutan

On Wednesday, 15 May 2024, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to India H. E. Eliska Zigova attended the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Thimphu (HK CR in Thimphu). The newly opened honorary consulate is a unique opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Bhutan in education, economy and culture. Honorary consulate also serves as main point of contact for Czech citizens residing in Bhutan in need of emergency. Mr Tenzing Yonten has been appointed as honorary consul in February 2024 for a period of five years. H. E. Lyonpo D. N. Dhungyel, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan participated at the ceremonial inauguration with other prominent representatives of Bhutanese politics, culture and society.
