Czech Ambassador presented credentials in Bhutan

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bhutan, His Excellency Milan Hovorka, presented the Letter of Credence from the President of the Czech Republic, Honourable Miloš Zeman, to his Majesty, the Kingdom of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, at a ceremony held at Tashichhodzong on December 5th, 2015.


Commenting on his assignment, Ambassador Hovorka said that he was immensely privileged to represent the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Bhutan with which his country has been able to develop a close and friendly relationship within a very short span of time.

As the newly accredited Ambassador, Mr. Hovorka expressed that he was committed to take the thriving relation between the two countries to a new level and that he would spare no effort in strengthening it further. With people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges and education being key elements to date, he said that the partnership would expand into trade and investment areas as well.

 

On the occasion of handing over his credentials, the newly accredited Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bhutan Milan Hovorka was also received by  Prime Minister Lyonchhen Tobgayem Tshering (on photo on the right).

Mr. Ambassador Milan Hovorka has been received by Chairman of the Parliament Lyonpo Jigme Zangpo and by other high government official, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister for Home and Cultural Affairs Lyonpo Dawa Gyeltshen and Minister of Information, Communications and Civil Aviation Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel.

The meetings highlighted the friendly and mutually enriching partnership between the Czech Republic and Bhutan and attached the importance to the mutual visits on a high level. Within this positive context, a wide range of initiatives aimed strengthening bilateral relations, including trade, investment, energy, disaster preparedness, environment culture, education and people-to-people contacts were discussed. The sides also exchanged thoughts on issues related to cooperation on regional and global levels, such as Bhutan´s accession to the World Trade Organization and cooperation within South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

Ambassador Hovorka has left Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, full of positive impressions. He was particularly appreciative of all achievements the country has made to preserve its heritage, cultural identity and environment. He equally appreciated progress made to date to put Bhutan on the path of political stability, all-inclusive economic growth and graduation from least-developed country status.
