India is one of the fastest-growing outbound travel markets in the world. With a rapidly expanding middle and upper class, greater access to international flights, and a strong desire to explore the world, Indian travellers are redefining global tourism. Europe remains a dream destination for many—and Czechia is emerging as an exciting and rewarding choice.
In 2024 alone, Indians made around 28 million international trips, surpassing even pre-pandemic levels. The total value of India’s outbound travel market is projected to grow from approximately USD 188 billion in 2024 to USD 440 billion by 2032, at an average annual growth rate of about 11%. Czechia is already benefiting from this trend: in 2024, over 80,000 Indian tourists visited the country, generating nearly 200,000 overnight stays, with an average stay of 3.4 nights.
What makes Czechia so appealing for Indian travellers is its ability to offer a complete, well-rounded European experience. Indian tourists typically look for more than just flights and hotels—they seek immersive journeys. This includes themed tours, rich cultural programmes, knowledgeable guides, cuisine adapted to cultural preferences, and smooth, flexible logistics.
Prague is naturally a highlight, but the real magic lies in combining the capital with other regions: spa towns, fairy-tale historic cities, UNESCO heritage sites, and experiential tourism in the countryside. Longer stays and multi-destination itineraries perfectly match Indian travel preferences, allowing visitors to experience “more Europe in one trip” while enjoying comfort and depth.
A Perfect Destination for Indian Families
One of the defining features of Indian travel is the importance of family. Multi-generational and large family groups travel together, creating a strong and stable segment of the market. These travellers value spacious accommodation, family rooms, connected services, safety, comfort, and well-organised itineraries.
Czechia is well suited to these needs. From family-friendly hotels and apartments to spa resorts and reliable transport services, the country offers a safe, welcoming environment for all age groups. Family travel is also less dependent on peak seasons, making it possible to enjoy Europe in spring, autumn, or even winter—often with fewer crowds and better value.
Rising Opportunities in Business Travel and MICE
Beyond leisure tourism, India is also driving rapid growth in business travel and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions). As one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, India is increasingly participating in international corporate events, with Europe becoming a preferred destination for meetings, incentive trips, and global conferences.
Czechia offers compelling advantages: modern conference infrastructure, experienced professionals, excellent connectivity within Europe, and the unique charm of historic surroundings. Hosting a corporate event in Prague or another Czech city combines efficiency with inspiration—something Indian companies and organisations increasingly seek.
Growing Interest from India
The strong interest from India was clearly demonstrated during a promotional event organised in Mumbai in December 2025 by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic and CzechTourism, with the support of Prague Airport. The event attracted over twenty media representatives and nearly seventy Indian travel professionals.
Indian tour operators and travel agencies welcomed the establishment of the Czech Consulate in Mumbai and expressed strong enthusiasm for deeper cooperation. Their interest spans individual travel, family holidays, and corporate and MICE segments—confirming that Czechia is becoming a destination of choice for Indian travellers looking for authentic, memorable European experiences.
