Czech Christmas Matchmaking Forum in Philippines

Czech Embassy in Manila, together with CzechTourism in Seoul, organized the matchmaking seminars for Czech and Filipino travel agencies in Manila and Davao with the aim to increase tourism to the Czech Republic, particularly during Christmas. Czech Christmas were also highligted during the „Passionfest“ festival in BGC, Taguig.
Presentation of Czech Christmas in Manila during „Passionfest“ and matchmaking seminars in Manila and Davao were financed from the programme of economic diplomacy of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the amount of 250.000 CZK.
Matchmaking seminar of four representatives of Czech tourist agencies (Art of Travel, Eastern Europe Tours, Kompas Prague, Kiwi.com) took place in Manila on December 3, 2018 with participation of 50 representatives of local travel agencies and in Davao on December 5, 2018 with participation of almost 30 representative of local travel agencies. The aim of the seminars was to increase the share of tours to the Czech Republic in the portofolio of Filipino travel agencies.
Czech stall at „Passionfest“ Festival in BGC, Taguig presented authentic Czech Christmas and Czech traditions. People could by typical Czech goulash, ice-wine (svařák), Czech draft beer „Czechvar“ (Budvar) and Czech street pastry Trdelník. Children decorated home-made gingerbreads, performed traditions of fortunetelling and sang Czech carols. The Czech Christmas would not complete without St. Nicolas, Angel and Devil who talked to passing-by children, asked how they behaved the past year and gifted them with some traditional Czech sweets upon singing a song or a rhyme.
During the Passionfest, Czech mime Vojtěch Svoboda performed for two days traditional Prague pantomime etudes – a combination of non-verbal theatre, clownery, commedia dell´arte, modern dance and contact improvisation.
