The Embassy of the Czech Republic has successfully finalized implementation of a small-scale development project for reintegration of former decommissioned MILF combatants back to society in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
A project of diversified integrated farming systems for former combatants of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) who decided to leave their former lives and integrate themselves into society was implemented by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila through its partner organization Consortium on Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) in brgy. Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The goal of the project was to establish a demo farm and training centre that would serve for learning and sharing, building social capital, and human development including the engagement of women and youth in peacebuilding initiatives. Suitable nurseries for production of organic fertilizer, as well as for vegetable and fruit trees were built, addressing the issue of food insecurity in the area, promoting self-sufficiency and fostering community engagement. Fionally, the centre was equipped with farm tools and light machinery to grow more crops with greater efficiency. A vulnerable group of people, thus, acquired an additional source of sustainable livelihood and found new purpose in life, contributing to the overal being of the society in the area.
