On 27 November, 2016, Manila´s Sofitel Hotel hosted the yearly International Bazaar and as in previous years, the Embassy of the Czech Republic actively partook in the event.
The Czech booth had a lot to offer, with traditional Czech goods such as Pilsner Urquell beer, white and red wines, globally famed Bohemian crystal glass with Infant Jesus of Prague and artisan jewellery, added with traditional Czech sweets and Christmas cookies. These – as well as books by Czech writers in English and Filipino translations – attracted an abundance of customers.
50th International Bazaar was organized by Spouses of Heads of Mission and International Bazaar Foundation. With all proceeds going to charity it is a honorable event frequented by many visitors who have a chance to see and buy products from different countries often unavailable at any shops in Manila.
Michaela Vovková, spouse of Czech Ambassador Jaroslav Olša,jr., hosted the guests of honour, Hon. Perfecto Yasay, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Arrairs of the Republic of the Philippines and his spouse, Ms. Cecile Joaquin-Yasay, and Ms. Yuko Ishikawa, President of Spouses of Heads of Mission, Spouse of Ambassador of Japan.
