CZitsirya II

The Embassy of the Czech Republic together with Museo Pambata hosted CZitsirya II on May 20, 2010. This event was part of the weeklong festivities in celebration of the Europe Month dubbed as Lakbayin Natin ang EU. Thirty kids, ages 8-11 years old, from the Virlanie Foundation learned about the Czech Republic through the activities prepared for them.

A short country presentation and quiz was followed by a film screening of Pat and Mat. Pat and Mat is a Czech stop-motion animated series featuring two handymen, Pat and Mat. The movie features the two characters facing mostly a self-made problem, trying to solve it using any possible and impossible tools and constructing gadgets, which leads to more problems. Yet, eventually, the two manage to get a working result with a mostly surprising solution.

The kids truly enjoyed the clay molding session afterwards. They were asked to do their own interpretation of the main characters of the film, Pat and Mat. The top three best art works received goodie bags. As for the finale, the kids played Human Bingo. It was not just a game. It also served as an evaluation to verify if the kids really learned something about the Czech Republic. The event proved that it’s possible for kids to play and enjoy and at the same time widen their knowledge.
