Deputy Minister Tlapa forges relations for 2020

Czech Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation Martin Tlapa visited Manila on December 5 - 9, 2019 to discuss the roadmap of bilateral cooperation for 2020.
Deputy Minister Martin Tlapa visited the Philippines to hold meetings with Filipino officials in Manila to deepen our bilateral relations. He started his visit by presenting Czech economic diplomacy instruments to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PCCI). The well-attended meeting, chaired by the President of PCCI Ms. Alegria S. Limjoco and Chairmen George T. Barcelon, provided a fruitful platform for discussion on concrete projects in various sectors such as agriculture, energy, transportation or ICT. The meeting at the Department of National Defense hosted by Undersecretary of National Defense Cardozo M. Luna followed up on the concrete projects discussed during the first Joint Joint Defense Committee (JDC) in May 2019.
During the meeting with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for Policy Enrique Manalo on December 6, 2019, they discussed the roadmap of bilateral relations for 2020, including high-level visits exchange to both countries, strengthening the protection for Filipino workers in the Czech Republic and projects of development and humanitarian cooperation. They exchanged views on situation in South China Sea, RCEP or negotiation of EU – Philippines Free Trade Agreement.
It is the third visit of Deputy Minister Martin Tlapa to the Philippines. "The Czech Republic has countless reasons why to engage more with the Philippines - long tradition of bilateral relations dating to 17th century, common values, economic and investment opportunities or huge interest to people to people exchanges. I am glad that the Filipino counterparts has the same opinion", commented Deputy Minister Martin Tlapa on the outcomes of his bilateral meetings. in Manila.
