Manchester to Celebrate Europe Day with EU Short Film Festival

Manchester will once again mark Europe Day this year with a showcase of contemporary European short films. On Thursday, 7th May at 6:00 pm, the Instituto Cervantes Manchester on Deansgate will host the second day of the EU Film Festival, which is open to the general public.

The festival brings together a diverse range of short films from European Union member states, offering audiences the opportunity to experience current European cinema and storytelling across genres and styles.
The Czech Republic will be represented by the animated documentary The Better Man (2025), directed by Eliška Jirásková. In addition, short films from Ireland, Italy, Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Greece, and Spain will be screened during the evening.
The EU Film Festival was initiated by the Czech Consulate General in Manchester during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2024. This year, the festival celebrates its third anniversary and has gradually established itself as a regular and anticipated part of Manchester’s cultural programme each May.

Admission is free, and tickets are available via the Eventbrite platform: https://shorturl.at/63dMZ
