Victory Day - Commemorative event for the 80th Anniversary of Liberation

On May 8, 2025, representatives from the Consulate General and the Czech expatriate community in Manchester gathered at the Czechoslovak Army Memorial in Cholmondeley Castle park to honor the memory of those who fell during the World War II.

As part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, Consul General David Frous and members of the Czech community laid flowers at the memorial dedicated to the Czechoslovak troops who fought in the war. This memorial is located at the Cholmondeley estate, where, starting in July 1940, the Fifth Marquess of Cholmondeley provided facilities for thousands of Czechoslovak soldiers. Together with their British counterparts, the Czechs paid tribute to the war victims and recognized the heroism of all those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Europe in 1945 with two minutes of silence.
