On 30th January, on the occasion of Czechs Abroad Day celebrated on 4th February, the Consulate General hosted a talk with a Czech diplomat and writer Milan Jakobec. Meeting the author and reading from his latest book Bohemia a Albion represented and opportunity for the audience to look behind the scenes of Czech - UK relations in the 90s and also appreciate the deep roots of the relationship between the two countries.
In an informal atmosphere, Milan Jakobec shared his personal memories and experience from times of his posting as the Deputy Head of the Czech Embassy in London. The event highlighted the importance personal contacts and individual cases of collaboration have for the quality of relations between Czechia and Great Britain. This applies not only to statesmen and politicians but above all to individual citizens, businesses and cultural, academic and research institutions.
