Art competition for children: Our pilots in the RAF

Children from 6 to 16 years of age are invited to take part in an art competition organized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VE Day by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Manchester and Czech School & Community Manchester in partnership with the association of Czech and Slovak schools in the UK and Ireland.
Artistic Techniques (participants can submit their works in the following categories):
- Drawing/Painting
- Graphics
- Mixed Media
- Film/Animation
- Art Objects (Models)
Competition Evaluation:
The competition will be judged by a professional jury in a single round. Winners will be awarded an original drawing by the renowned illustrator Karel Osoha, created exclusively for this occasion. The results will be officially announced on 24 April 2025 during a special screening of the film Dark Blue World at the Central Library, Manchester, M2 5PD.
Exhibition of Awarded Works:
The winning entries will be exhibited on 5 July 2025 at the Czechoslovak Army Memorial in Cholmondeley.
Competition Categories:
Category I: Drawing/Painting, Graphics, Mixed Media – Children aged 6–11
Category II: Drawing/Painting, Graphics, Mixed Media – Children aged 12–16
Category III: Film/Animation and Art Objects (Models) – Children aged 6–16
Participation Conditions:
Open to children aged 6–16, both individuals and students from schools and art clubs.
Maximum sizes of art:
- Two-dimensional works: A3
- Three-dimensional works: 40 × 60 × 40 cm, maximum weight 5 kg
- Original film/animation: Maximum duration of 5 minutes
Participants may submit works in multiple techniques.
Each artist may submit up to 2 works per technique.
Works that may smudge or fade must be fixed.
Each submission must include the artist’s full name, age, and contact details (email, phone number of a parent/guardian).
Submission Guidelines:
Physical artworks (drawings, paintings, models) must be delivered in their original form to the Czech Community Centre Manchester.
Films/animations should be sent via email to irena@czechschoolmanchester.org using a file transfer service (e.g., [www.uschovna.cz](http://www.uschovna.cz) or [wetransfer.com](http://www.wetransfer.com)).
