Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lusaka oversees the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) as an implementing body of the development cooperation of the Czech Republic. Main aims of CzDA is reducing poverty, improving quality of life and supporting sustainable development in Zambia as one of the main priority country for economic, political, research and development cooperation. Forest Officer position will be under the project Sustainable Landscape through Integrated Management under the European Green Nexus Program with implementation period until 2027.

Main aims of CzDA is reducing poverty, improving quality of life and supporting sustainable development in Zambia as one of the main priority country for economic, political, research and development cooperation. The position will be under the project Sustainable Landscape through Integrated Management with implementation period until 2027.
Basic information
Job title: Forest officer, full-time, project based
Location: Lusaka
Key relationships: Project coordinator, Project manager, members of the team, project partners
Role: Forest officer is responsible to provide the project technical expertise, closely communicate with external experts in area of forest management, planning and monitoring. He/she supports the project coordinator in implementation of forest related activities on national level. He/she is responsible for independent organization of meetings and to communicate with project partners etc. He/she contribute to reporting processes.
Starting date: November 2024
Length of contract: 1 year with option to extend up to the end of the project
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge and expertise in forest management, planning, and monitoring to guide project activities. Stay updated on best practices, innovations, and regulations in forest management to ensure the project’s alignment with current standards.
- Collaboration with External Experts: Liaise and coordinate with external experts in the field of forestry, including government agencies, academic institutions, and environmental organizations. Facilitate knowledge exchange and integration of external insights into the project’s strategies and activities.
- Project implementation: Assist the Project Coordinator in the implementation of forest-related activities at the national level. Provide recommendations on strategies for achieving the project’s objectives related to forest planning, monitoring and management.
- Communication with Project Partners: Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with project partners at the national and local levels. Maintain clear, transparent, and continuous communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration
- Reporting: Prepare and contribute to technical and narrative reports, ensuring accurate and timely submission. Gather data, analyze results, and compile information for inclusion in reports required by donors, government agencies, or project partners.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor´s degree in Forestry (a must), ecology, Climate change or similar field.
- Advanced certificate/diploma in NRM, Climate change, Ecology or similar field welcomed.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a position responsible for implementing project in area of Forestry management, planning and monitoring.
- Excellent knowledge of English and possession of excellent computer skills.
- Experience in international environment is an strong advantage.
