Call For Proposals: Small Scale Projects for 2026

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lusaka has opened a call for proposals for local small scale projects to be implemented in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi in 2026. All interested organisations are invited to submit their proposals strictly by 30 September 2025.

Small-scale projects are one of the development cooperation instruments of the Czech Republic. They aim to contribute to small-scale development activities in accordance with the beneficiary country’s national development priorities. 

If you wish to submit your application, make sure you fulfill all the conductions below:

  •  The applicant must be an entity legally registered in Zambia/Malawi/Zimbabwe, and whose main activity is non-profit (e.g. local NGOs, civic associations, local academic institutions working on local projects; organizations and agencies whose activities focus on local development). The applicant must be eligible to sign a contract with the MOFA that establishes jurisdiction under Czech law and Czech courts and must not be a central administrative body, political party or movement;
  • The evaluation criteria are mainly the developmental contribution of the project to the local community, sustainability, the amount of co-financing and the cost-effectiveness of the project proposal. The involvement of Czech technological solutions, know-how, cooperation with Czech entities, etc. is a big advantage (but not a condition). 
  • Grant amount: minimum 200 000, - CZK and maximum 500 000, - CZK. The total amount for personal expenses and travel, insurance, etc., must not exceed 25% of the total cost. Detailed conditions are set out in the Annex to the call. 

 

In order to successfully apply, one must follow the following steps: 

1. Gather all the necessary documents:

  • Signed filled-in identification form (can be found in the attachment below under Identification Form)
  • Copy of proof of legal personality (ideally as Public Benefit Organisation)
  • Copy of proof that the person submitting the proposal is authorised to act on behalf of the organization

2. Scanned copies of all documents must be sent to lusaka.development@mzv.gov.cz (Subject: Small Scale Projects 2026 +  name of your project). 

3. All above listed documents must be submitted at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lusaka (by post or physically, 4 Twin Palm Road, Kabulonga, Lusaka, Zambia) 

4. After completing all the steps above, one must fill out the following electronic form: https://forms.gle/4K1wBwDaifeEy8dB7 

 

By submitting the application the applicant agrees with GDPR conditions attached below. 

 

Deadline for submitting project proposals electronically and physically is 30 September 2025 (cob). Kindly note, that applications received after this deadline will not be accepted.
