"Zátopek" Wants to Win Oscar Race

Czech Republic's official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards "Zátopek" (130 minutes) about Emil Zátopek, the greatest athletic runner of all times, will screen in Los Angeles from Tuesday, November 23 until Sunday, December 5, 2021.

ABOUT THE FILM: 
Director David Ondříček’s epic film Zátopek details the athletic and personal story of one of the greatest runners in history, four-time Olympic winner Emil Zátopek. A story of victories in sports and love, both of which require a lot of heart.
This sport biopic recently premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and was awarded with the Audience Award.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: 
David Ondříček is one of the most successful Czech directors today. He made his directorial debut in 1996 with the film Whisper, which became the second most viewed film of the year in the Czech Republic. He won the Promotional Award at the Cottbus festival of young European cinema.

In 1999, he founded Lucky Man Films, the production company that would produce his future works. Loners (2000) won two Czech Lions (the most prestigious Czech film award), three awards at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Filmfestival, and audience awards at the Thessaloniki and Warsaw IFFs. The comedy One Hand Can’t Clap (2003) won two Czech Lions and a silver medal at the IFF in Houston. Grandhotel (2006) was selected for the Panorama section of the Berlinale and won two Czech Lions. The drama In the Shadow (2012) took nine prizes at the annual Czech Lions awards, including Best Film and Best Director, and five Czech Film Critics’ Awards. In 2013, David Ondříček was included in Variety magazine’s prestigious „10 Directors to Watch“. In 2019, his TV miniseries Dukla 61 (2018) was nominated for the Golden Nymph at the 59th International Television Festival in Monte Carlo.

  • 1. Pre-register your visitor You or your visitor must be pre-registered online 48 hours prior to arrival
    2. Prescreening – Visitors must complete the online prescreening health assessment prior to arrival (select Guest/Visitor). 
    3. Check-in procedures – Guests should check-in at the lobby reception desk near the north entrance. They will need to provide proof of vaccine status, have their temperatures taken at the self-serve kiosk and sign-in. 
    4. Face coverings – Remind visitors that they are required to wear a cloth face covering over their nose and mouth at all times while in the building or on the grounds. If your visitor does not have a cloth face covering upon arrival, one will be provided. 


Parking /Valet – Valet will not park your visitor’s car; they will direct your visitor where to park
All guests must show proof of vaccination or a negative covid test, taken within the previous 72 hours.
