Passing Away of Great Czech Producer Evzen Kolar

With great sadness, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles informs of passing of Evzen Kolar, a veteran film executive of Czech origin. Kolar died on July 11th, 2017 in Los Angeles after a brief illness. He was 67.
 

Czech-born filmmaker’s credits include such movies as cult comedy Surf Ninjas (1993), Delta of Venus (1995), City of Industry (1997), Inferno (1997) or period costume drama Bride of the Wind (2001). As a line producer, Kolar worked on the James Bond film Never Say Never Again (1983), with Sean Connery as James Bond.

Kolar began his film and television career as a child actor. Later he became an assistant director, working throughout Europe on commercials, television projects, and features, and produced fringe theater in London before relocating to the United States in 1979. He previously worked as VP of production at Fireline Productions and CEO at Crossover Films Entertainment. In 1993, Kolar established his own production company, KPI Entertainment.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Shaw Kolar, co-partner of the Hollywood PR and marketing film Kean & Kolar Communications, children  Rob Kolar and Rachel McCord, and grandson Mateus Kofi McCord.
