Passing Away of a Translator Norma Jeanne "Bean" Comrada

With great sadness, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles mourns the passing of Los Angeles native, Ms. Jeanne Bean Comrada, a passionate translator of Czech literature into English. She was a devoted researcher of Karel Capek’s work and life, translated several books and countless articles by Čapek. For her extensive accomplishments she received numerous literary awards, including the prestigious Karel Čapek Medal for Lifetime Achievement from the Čapek Society.
