HPR 90th Anniversary Celebration

The House of Pacific Relations (HPR) International Cottages are Celebrating 90th Year of their presence in Balboa Park at HPR Cottages, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.
(HCSR) House of Czech and Slovak Republics (formally named Czechoslovakia) has been a part of HPR organization since its establishment in 1935 and will be participating in this celebration on both days with other International Houses on:
Saturday, September 6, 2025 (11 am - 5 pm)
Sunday, September 7, 2025 (11 am - 5 pm)
Event: HPR 90th Anniversary Celebration
Location: HPR Cottages, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA
Date: Saturday, September 6, 2025 and Sunday, September 7, 2025
Time: 11 am - 5 pm (Parade of Flags on Saturday at 10 am)
During this two-day event in which HPR commemorates this historic milestone, visitors will be able to enjoy the food, music and entertainment provided by HPR organization. You can also visit International Houses.
Since HCSR cottage is still not open (due to City of San Diego repairs), HCSR will have a table with Czech and Slovak displays and baked goods at the Hall of Nations on both days.
HPR 90th Anniversary Celebration
he event will start on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:00am with all of the International Houses "FLAGS PROCESSION PARADE" from "Bea Evenson Water FOUNTAIN" (located between the Fleet Science Center and the San Diego Natural History Museum) all the way to the Organ Pavilion for program Celebration.
House of Czech and Slovak Republics members will have also 2 FLAGS BEARERS wearing the Czech & Slovak kroj:
Czech Republic flag: Nicole Nemecek (former HCSR Queen, current HPR Queens adviser).
Slovak Republic flag: Natasha Braden (current HCSR Queen).
ORGAN PAVILION PROGRAM: (11:00AM - 2:00PM appx.)
Once the flags procession enters the organ pavilion, the flag bearers of all countries place the flags in the stand and everyone can takes their seats.
- the program will begin with the National Anthem and then some speeches, followed by varied cultural performances.
- additional performances will occur after 2:00PM at the International Lawn stage.
On both days, there will be different Internationally Houses culture performances, schedule is attached in this email. HCSR will have performers on Sunday, 11am Czech/Slovak folklore groups "Karička and Podkovička", and also later on that day at 4pm Poe Street band/Slunce.
