Join Sokol San Francisco at the Orinda Community Center and Park in Orinda on Saturday, October 12th, from 11am to 4pm for a free festival-style gathering and celebration of Czech and Slovak culture and the 120th anniversary of Sokol San Francisco.
Come enjoy folk dancing by 16 members of the United Moravian Societies from Chicago in their beautiful traditional costumes, as well as the students of Dance Light Studio from Prague, who will perform From Our Woods and Groves, dances also drawn from traditional folk culture.
The Czech School of CA will share entertaining presentations and the Sokol Songbirds will engage the audience in sing-alongs of our favorite Czechoslovak tunes!
We will also have Easter egg decorating and corn-husk doll-making classes and ornaments, crafts and homemade baked goods for sale during the festival. And, of course, you can look forward to some delicious food provided by La Trattoria Bohemia from Sacramento.
We are proud to welcome special guests and dignitaries, including:
-
Former President of Slovakia Zuzana Čaputová
-
Amb. Jaroslav Olša, Jr., Consul General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles
-
JuDr. Jiří Krátký, M.A., Special Envoy for Expat Affairs from Prague
