Chargé d'affaires Aleš Opatrný and Military Attaché Brigadier General Vratislav Beran took part in the Service of Thanksgiving and Rededication on Battle of Britain Sunday at Westminster Abbey on Sunday 19th September. Their Royal Highnesses Charles, The Prince of Wales and Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson also attended the service.
The Battle, a 112-day battle for control of Britain’s skies between July and October 1940, was the first decisive battle in history fought entirely in the air, and proved to be an important turning point in the Second World War. Overall, 89 Czechoslovak airmen were among those who took part in the fights.
