A special dinner for the friends of the Czech Embassy in London from amongst distinguished British journalists and reporters took place at the Ambassador’s residence on 27th June 2017. Ambassador Libor Sečka also met a legend of British journalism, John Simpson, who has worked as a foreign correspondent for BBC for many decades. In the 80s, Mr. Simpson was sent to the former Czechoslovakia and acted as the chief BBC correspondent covering the events of the 1989 Velvet Revolution in Prague. He met President Václav Havel in person several times. In his short speech at the beginning of the evening, Ambassador Sečka pointed out that he is very happy to be the first Czech Ambassador in the United Kingdom since 1982 who invited Mr. Simpson to a personal meeting.
